Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the power cord for the CuroCell® IQ?

4,5 meter.

How long do the notifications on CuroCell IQ last?

The control unit displays the notification code, and the notification (audible and/or visual) continues until the issue is resolved. You can use the ‘silence information signal’ button – this will silence the warning for 5 minutes before it resumes until the issue is resolved.

How long does CuroCell IQ notify in case of power failure?

The control unit has the capacity to notify with sound for approximately 2 minutes in case of power failure.

How often do air exchanges occur in a CuroCell IQ system with CX support surface?

CuroCell IQ is preconfigured with a cycle time of 10 minutes, a setting based on scientific research and proven practice.

How does the startup of the systems work, and when can the individual be placed on the support surface?

Before placing the patient on the support surface, the mattress should be fully inflated, which takes varying amounts of time depending on the mattress and size. If the patient is placed on the support surface before it is fully inflated, the cells in the mattress may be prevented from filling with air (due to excessive resistance), or it may take longer to inflate the mattress.

Start the system. The mattress begins to fill. This takes approximately 20-40 minutes depending on size. During the inflation process, the “silence information signal” and “information signal” diodes will glow orange. Once these diodes are extinguished, the patient can be placed on the mattress.

If startup occurs with the patient lying on the mattress, a restart is sufficient, meaning the system is restarted without the patient lying on it.

How does the autonomous function work in CuroCell IQ?

Through an AI-driven algorithm, the control unit adjusts the pressure in the air cells individually based on the patient’s height, weight, and position, eliminating the need for manual adjustments. If the patient changes position in bed, the system detects this and autonomously adjusts the settings to accommodate the new position. Unlike traditional automatic systems, which apply a predetermined air pressure, CuroCell A4, CuroCell IQ, and CuroCell iA create individual settings that provide complete personalized pressure relief for each individual.

Utilization of CuroCell A4/IQ for patients with spasms?

The choice of support surface should always be based on a comprehensive and carefully conducted risk assessment, taking into account the patient’s individual needs and health condition. In our autonomous systems, a high degree of customization is offered, resulting in high sensitivity in the built-in sensors that detect movements. Therefore, we recommend, for example, in cases of spasms, that a manual variant be used instead. Here, prescribers must naturally assess the suitability of a manual system based on the individual’s needs.

Do you need a hospital bed to use a dynamic mattress like CuroCell IQ CX15? Or can it be used with a regular bed, with the control unit placed on, for example, a chair?

CuroCell IQ CX15 is designed as a complete replacement mattress and is intended to be placed directly on a bed base to ensure stability and function. The control unit used with the mattress can be hung on the headboard at the foot end or placed on a flat and stable surface near the bed. As long as this is fulfilled, the mattress can be used in a regular bed.

How long does the support surface retain air during a power outage?

During a power outage, the system can retain air for a limited amount of time. For CuroCell A4 and CuroCell IQ, the estimated time is at least12 hours. Disconnect the CPR connector from the control unit and close the lid to activate the “transport” function of the mattress. The mattress then retains the air for at least 12 hours.

The control unit is issuing error notifications, what can I do?

The control unit notifies any errors with a visual and/or audible signal. When a notification occurs, one or more of the diodes above the wrench on the control unit’s control panel lights up, forming a notification code. This code can be deciphered in the user manual and must be corrected accordingly. For more information about the various notification codes, please refer to the user manual. To silence the information signal, press the ‘silence information signal’ button.

How do I install CuroCell IQ?

To install CuroCell A4 or CuroCell IQ, we recommend that you carefully follow the instructions provided in the user manual (IFU) or the quick guide that comes with the product. As a complement, you can watch our instructional video for a visual guide through the installation process.

How does the Pack & Go function work?

Pack & Go deflates the mattress of air so that it easily can be folded and packed away. Press the button for 2 seconds to activate the function. The mattress will be emptied of air within 20 minutes. The control unit emits an audible signal when the deflation is complete and the mattress is ready to be packed away.

How does the MAX function work, and when should it be used?”

The MAX function fills the entire mattress with air and provides a firm support. The function should be used in conjunction with nursing work, position changes, and durin gbed entry/exit. Press the button for 2 seconds to activate the function. The control unit returns to the previous settings after approximately 20 minutes

What does it mean that the support surface and control unit are CE marked separately?

The control unit and support surface are registered and labeled separately according to MDR (EU) 2017/745. This means that if the control unit or the mattress needs to be replaced, they can be replaced individually without violating either CE marking or regulatory requirements. The control unit and the mattress are registered separately in order to create a safe experience for the individual by having this built-in flexibility and avoiding unnecessary movements. In addition, healthcare personnel are not exposed to increased workload or increased risk of injury.

How often does the product need to undergo servicing

CuroCell A4 and CuroCell IQ are service-free for the first five years. The control units re-circulate the air in the mattress, which means they only operate when needed. This reduces both wear and energy consumption, and therefore enables a service-free period for the first five years.
